10 held during crackdown against land grabbers

ISLAMABAD
Islamabad Noon police station has arrested ten persons after police encounter allegedly involved in land grabbing activities and illegal occupation on private properties.
According to details, Noon police station received information regarding firing between two groups of land grabbers at Zamurd Valley along motorway. Following this information, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed constituted special police teams and sent them at the site.
Police teams were also resisted by these land grabbers but police succeeded to overpower ten persons while some of their accomplices managed to escape. The nabbed persons have been identified as Mohsin Shah, Asad, Qaisar, Nadeem Iqbal, Tanveer Akhtar, Basharat, Tanveer, Fakhar Zaman, Nazir and Fazal..
Police also recovered three pistols, three SMGs, one 12 bore rifle and 200 rounds while cases have been registered against both groups under Anti-Terrorism Act. Speical police teams have been also constituted to ensure arrest of the absconding criminals who opened fire on policemen.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Khana and Koral police stations have also registered cases against lang grabbers and further investigation is underway into these cases.
SSP (Operations) has said that Islamabad Police is committed to eliminate Qabza-Mafia from the capital. He further directed all police officers to continue crackdown against land grabbers.
He said it is prime responsibility of police to ensrue protection to the the lives and property of citizens and it would be ensured at every cost.
