Abid Sher Ali elected as President Judo Federation

LAHORE: Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali and Shahid Javed Tuesday unanimously elected as President and Secretary of Pakistan Judo Federation respectively at the general council meeting of the body.
“These elections were due before the May 20th, 2016, but for some reason, the PJF did not hold them in time and thus the federation became defunct. The member units of the PJF then organized these elections and elected the fresh office bearers,“ newly elected Secretary Shahid Javed said while talking to APP.
Following office bearers were also elected for a fresh term of four years:
Chairman, Mahmood Naveed, Chairperson, Mrs Abida Tanveer, Senior Vice Presidents, Ejaz Khokhar, Jala ud din, Treasurer, Imtiaz Akram.
Members of the executive, Sameena Khan (womens wing), Maqsood Ahmad, Ameer ullah Khan , Shahid Mahmood and Mohammad Jehangir Iqbal.
Shahid Javed said the house discussed ways and means for the further uplift of the game and finalized a comprehensive training programme.
He said judo competitions from grass root level to national level will be organised on regular basis to broaden the base of the game by grooming the promising judokas under the watchful eyes of experienced coaches.
“Those clubs which are playing their due role in the overall development of the game will be identified for the distribution of judo mats and uniforms.“ he said.
The house decided that men and women national championship will be held in the last week of December.
