ISLAMABAD: Model Ayyan Ali on Saturday challenged her non-bailable arrest warrants issued by the Customs Court against her in a currency smuggling case. The model’s new counsels argued that the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants despite submitting a sick leave and medical certificates. The court, as a result, accepted Ali’s plea and issued a notice to the customs team and adjourned the hearing till December 8. In addition, the counsel assured the judge that the accused shall appear in court at the next hearing.On October 6, non-bailable arrest warrants were issued for model Ali by a customs court in the currency smuggling case, reported.In 2015, Ali was arrested at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Airport while boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates carrying $506,800 without the permission of the State Bank of Pakistan. She was sent to jail and the government put her name on the Exit Control List. But she subsequently left for Dubai after she was released on bail and a court ordered the removal of her name from the ECL.
