DG Sports KP holds reception for silver medalists of US Junior Squash Open

Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held a grand reception in the honor of silver medalists in the US Junior-2018 Open Squash and semi-finalists of the British Junior Open Squash recently organized in Boston, USA and Birmingham, UK.
Former Sports Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Aqil Shah, former squash world champion Qamar Zaman Khan, former world number 2 Muhibullah Khan, Deputy Director Youth Aziz Ullah Jan, PAF Academy coaches Gulab Sher, Nazir Khan, Maqsood Hanif, Riaz Khan, Directorate Coaches Tahir Iqbal, former Asian Champion Nasir Iqbal, Falak Naz, Muhammad Waseem, Chief Referee Pakistan Squash Federation Munawar Zaman, and sport ministry officials also present on this occasion.
While commenting on the occasion former Sport Minister KP Syed Aqil Shah said that the youngsters hailing from Peshawar have given satisfactory performances in the two important event of the world.
He said winning silver medal out of 128 players for Pakistan is very encouraging result and asked the Provincial Government to announce cash incentives for the silver medalists and those reached to the semi-finals of the British Open Junior Squash Championship.
He said Humam Ahmad and Hamza Niaz played well in the US Junior-2018 Open Squash Championship where players from around the world took part. It is also very encouraging that Noor Zaman, Hariq Qasim, Hamza Sharif reached to the semi-finals in the British Open Under-15 and Under-17 categories.
Humam and Hamza Sharif played six matches in the British Open Junior Squash Championship and lost one match by winning five matches. It would also better their ranking in future, Aqil Shah added.

Syed Aqil Shah expressed the hope that our squash players would soon regain their lost positions in the squash arena and asked the players to work hard for the future tournaments. He also appreciated the Pakistan Squash Federation for encouraging the players and currently providing them international exposures. He said now players at junior level are coming up and if provided due opportunities and international exposure they would show better result.

We asked government to patronage the sports and players that they could earn name and fames for the country in the grounds. Its pertinent to mentioned here that Khamz Niaz has won silver in Under 15 category while Humam Ahmad got the silver medal in Under-13 US Junior-2018 Open Squash Championship while in British Junior Open Squash Hamza Sharif in Under-17 and Noor Zaman in Under-15 were the semi-finalists.

Qamar Zaman and Mohib Ullah Khan also appreciated the players for giving good result. They said without hard work no one can reach to that height. They advised to the players to continue their efforts so that one day they could achieve the lost glory in the world of squash.

Later, all the squash players were garlanded with dolls and pipes were also there which turned the whole complexion into a melodious one. The players were taken for round in the Qayyum Sports Complex.
