Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Dr Muhammad Naeed has taken notice of an incident in which a junior police officer tortured a senior police officer.
According to a statement issued by the KP Police, the police chief made it clear that such attitude will never be tolerated. On Friday evening, it was reported that Inspector Ibad Wazir attacked Deputy Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Ijaz Abazai at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qazi Jameelur Rehman tried to resolve the issue, but the senior police officer refused to forgive the inspector.
According to the DSP’s application, tests were being conducted at the Police Lines for the UN Mission and several senior police officers were present there. Meanwhile, Inspector Ibad came towards DSP Ijaz and threw some papers towards the DSP and told him that he has been ‘released’ on which the DSP congratulated him. The DSP’s application said the inspector used abusive words and said he had filed a murder case against him in Yakkatoot Police Station. The DSP said he did so on the orders of former IGP Salahuddin Mehsud. The application stated that after verbal abuse, the inspector tortured the DSP. Other officers at the scene tried to separate them.
The DSP requested the CCPO to take action against the inspector, however, the matter came into the notice of the police chief.
The IGP has asked the CCPO to take disciplinary action against the inspector as there can be no compromise on disciplinary issues.
The said inspector has been involved in several such cases of indiscipline including torture on citizens.
