Independence of Gilgit-Baltistan celebrated

Gilgit (Online): The 69th Independence of Gilgit-Baltistan was celebrated across Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.
The day dawned with special prayers at mosques after Fajar prayer for solidarity, prosperity and integrity of Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Special ceremonies and functions were held in all the districts to pay tributes to the heroes and martyrs of liberation movement. Gilgit-Baltistan liberated from Dogra forces and declared its independent State on first November in 1947.
In their separate messages, Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Chief Minister Hafeez-ur-Rehman congratulated the people of Gilgit-Baltistan on the occasion of its Independence Day. They said the journey of progress and prosperity will continue.
In his message, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhary Barjees Tahir felicitated the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and said the valiant people had struggled against Dogra rule and liberated the region in 1947.He said government in Federal and Gilgit-Baltistan are taking keen interest in the development of the area.
A ceremony was held in Ganish, Hunza to pay tributes to the heroes and martyrs of liberation movement. Speakers lauded the valour and courage of the participants of liberation movement.
The speakers also lauded services of Subedar Major Fida Ali, a leading hero of liberation movement of Gilgit-Baltistan. The speakers said Fida Ali played key role in motivating and encouraging troops for launching liberation movement against the Dogra Raj in the region.
