LAHORE
Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said Pervez Musharraf is now a politician and not a general and he should come to Pakistan like other political leaders and appear before the court and he will be provided full security.
“Pervez Musharraf is not a general now. He is politician and is head of a political party. He should come to Pakistan like other Pakistani politicians and appear before the court. He will be provided full security. Pervez Musharraf has said he had earlier no trust on court and he expected no justice from the court. However he is expecting justice from new judiciary now. Is any clean chit not being given to him now”, he said this while talking here Saturday.
He held democratic forces are strong in Pakistan and general elections will take place on time. I hope leader of the opposition will agree with government on interim set up. Consensus between government and opposition on interim set up is a test. Because talks are there and efforts are underway for bringing third party
He underlined that failed forces always try to block the way to democracy. Why the forces which fear from election and democracy remember accountability before election, he questioned.
He observed that movement for accountability before election was also started in 2013. Ehtesab movement has been started before 2018 polls and its objective is political agenda. If PML-N is targeted in it then it will be a pre-polls rigging, he added.
Responding to a question he said Chaudhry Nisar is his predecessor therefore, he does not want to give any negative comment on this count.
He underscored that Pakistan was being declared a terrorist country 5 years before and now it is an emerging economy.
Chits of extortion money were being given in Karachi and now Pakistan Super League tickets are being sold therein, he remarked.
