Land issue:QAU Alumini submits petition to President & NCHR

Islamabad (Online): QAU Alumni & faculty will undertake collective efforts to get QAU land issue resolved and a signed Petition will be submitted to President of Pakistan and National Commission for Human Rights Islamabad – 11th December 2016 in this regard.
In connection with drive against illegal encroachment, occupation and non-demarcation of Quaid-i-Azam University’s (QAU) land and discriminatory attitude with the university, QAU’s Alumni Association and Academic Staff Association have agreed to evolve joint strategy to undertake collective efforts in order to get the varsity land issue resolved.
President QAU Alumni Association Sikandar Ahmed Rai expressed that they would utilize every possible option in this regard and would take up this issue to all the relevant forums. He further said that it was quite misfortunate that when Pakistan‘s leading federal higher education institution was celebrating its 50th anniversary, it was being subjected to such treatment and had been left on the mercy of land mafia to grab its land.
QAU Academic Staff Association President Dr. Ishtiaq Ali said that QAU students, alumni, QAU faculty, employees and administration are really concerned about the fact that various encroachers have encroached upon over 200 acres of the university’s land, worth billions of rupees.
Earlier, old students of QAU, faculty and employees staged peaceful protest against the illegal occupation of QAU land in front of Press Club Islamabad.
