Massive corruption worth millions of rupees has been unearthed in auctioning of Sargodha University’s hostels and canteens.
Sources told that malpractice in Sargodha University’s auction process of hostels and canteens was continued since long while former Hall Council Chairman Dr Mian Ghulam Yasin is believed to be the mastermind of this mega corruption. Through auction of University’s canteen and hostels, he gained vested interests and minted millions of rupees during the last many years.
The sources said that contract of the Fatima hostel was given at a cost of Rs 1.25 million this year while the same was gifted to someone in just only Rs 40000. This was an evident example of corruption in the monetary affairs of University of Sargodha. Women hostels including Halima Sadia, Hafsa, Hajra hostel, Zainab, Mariyam hostels were never given more than Rs24000 respectively.
This year, aforesaid hostels were auctioned against a huge sum as compared to the previous years. Halima Saadia hostel was auctioned against a sum of Rs 960000, .Hafsa hostel and canteen Rs 313000, Hajra hostel at Rs3,02000, Zainab hostel Rs 1,52000 and Khadija hostel at Rs 7,60000.
Sources said that Mian Ghulam Yasin allegedly was embezzling about Rs 5 million per annum. During his tenure, which lasted for eight year, he bagged over Rs 40 million from these unfair means.
It is worth mentioning here that Peeda Act had already been enacted on Mian Ghulam Yasin for making illegal recruitments in hostels.
Sources revealed that if Anti- Corruption performs its duties vigilantly and faithfully, more scams would unmask relating to University’s corruption.
It is pertinent to mention here that corrupt mafia is running a baseless campaign against vice-Chancellor of the university, which could be aimed at giving shelter to their black deeds.
