To enhance exports of the country , the government has decided to increase the numbers of commercial councilors and give priority to African states in this connection.
It is also decided that the performance of commercial councilors would be assessed under Trade Monitoring and Evolution Committee and those would be called back to the country who would not perform up to the mark .
Now there are some 58 commercial councilors deputed in 42 countries, whereas the total exports of Pakistan is about 123 billion dollars .
The sources told Online that the former Advisor on Commerce, Abdul Razaq Daud had a meeting with the officials of Foreign Office in which it was agreed that the number of commercial councilors would be increased .
It was also agreed during the meeting that the visa would be issued at airport on arrival, to the businessmen belonging to those African countries who have trade volume of more than 10 million USD.
The sources also told this scribe that special measures would be taken to increase the exports of textile , sports goods , surgical instruments, engineering, chemicals, information technology , foods, vegetables and fruits .The exports of the country were less than targets during last some years and government would provide subsidy to manufacturers of exportable items .
The sources too added that government is taking extraordinary steps to improve the demand of Pakistani tractors, air conditioners, fans, motorbikes in African countries . He said that in the calendar year 2019 , some 2000 made in Pakistan tractors would be exported
