Pakistan gifts PPE to the United States

US thanks Pakistan for medical supplies to fight coronavirus pandemic

As a gesture of solidarity with the United States, a gift of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been made by the Armed Forces of Pakistan to the U.S.
Armed Forces on 21 May 2020. The PPE arrived via a C-130 flight from Islamabad at Andrews Air Force Base (AFB), Maryland this afternoon, says a press release received from Washington DC here on Friday.
Pakistan Ambassador to the US Dr. Asad M. Khan and senior officers of the Embassy’s Defense Wing were present on the occasion. From the U.S. side, Mr. David Helvey, Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs and other officials were also present.
During the event, Ambassador Dr. Asad Majeed Khan highlighted historic ties between people of two countries and their armed forces. He said that armed forces of both countries have fought together in “Global War on Terrorism” and stand together in fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
This is a manifestation of the longstanding and close cooperation between the armed forces of both countries, particularly in dealing with natural calamities. Both Pakistan and the U.S. remain closely engaged in combating COVID-19.
The equipment has been handed over to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for onward delivery to the U.S. Armed Forces. = DNA
Meanwhile, the United States has thanked Pakistan for its donation of protective gear and surgical masks to support the fight against coronavirus.
In a Tweet, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appreciated Pakistan s goodwill donation of surgical masks and protective suits to Federal Emergency Management Agency. He said this delivery is a symbol of Pak-US solidarity in the fight against COVID-19.
He termed it a “partnership for prosperity of the two countries”. Meanwhile, the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Alice Wells, in her tweet, also expressed gratitude to Pakistan for the goodwill donation.
She said our countries health partnership and coordinated response will help defeat this virus, and rebuild our prosperity. Earlier, the consignment of Personal Protective Equipment from Pakistan via a C-130 flight from Islamabad landed at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.
The equipment was also handed over to US Federal Emergency Management Agency for onward delivery to the US armed forces.
