Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) and China’s Northern Heavy Industry Group (NHI) have signed a contract with a total value of $30 million for PIBT’s conveying system project.
Gwadar Pro App quoting official website of NHI said this turnkey project of PIBT covers civil construction, product design, manufacturing, installation and trial run.
In its proposal, PIBT requires constructing a 2.5-kilometer-long trestle carrying conveyor belt, which connects the Storage Area to the Jetty.
For the 3.2-meter-wide trestle, besides making room for a 3.1-meter-wide carriageway, NHI must keep it steady and guarantee the headroom on its surface. This poses a challenge for execution.
Facing this difficulty, NHI chose some experienced technical workers from its design team and set up a temporary expert group. After fully investigating the geological exploration data, the expert group came up with a solution within just two months, which was a guarantee for the award of the project.
Upon completion, PIBT’s productive capacity will be doubled and it will serve the country’s infrastructure construction including power plants and cement plants.
