Peace in region not possible until Pakhtoons get rights: Sikandar

Peshawar(PR):Senior Minister for Irrigation and Provincial Chairman of Qaumi Watan Party, Sikandar Khan Sherpao has stated that the deprivation of Pakhtoons in national development programmes is causing concern among Pakhtoons and steps are being taken to raise the issue at national and international fora. He said the federal Government’s indifferent attitude towards the rights of smaller provinces was threatening the federation and causing instability in the region.
These views were stated by the Minister while presiding a meeting of the party’s delegation from Peshawar City. While addressing the gathering, Sikandar Sherpao stated that the federal government should ensure timely issuance of the NFC award and steps were being taken by the Provincial government to ensure the province got its due share of the award.
The minister also stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was being deprived of its due share of electricity from the national pool due to which business and investment opportunities are declining in the province. He termed peace as fundamental unit for development in the region.
Sikandar Sherpao stated that peace in the region was not possible until the exploitation of smaller provinces was not stopped.
“Pakhtoons are being attacked economically, culturally and socially. Peace in the region is not possible until we are given our rights. There is desperation and hopelessness among Pakhtoons which is increasing with each passing day.” Sikandar Sherpao added.
The minister stated that Pakhtoons are a peace loving nation and every step should be taken by the federal government for addressing their concerns so that sustainable peace may be established in the region.
The Minister expressed his firm resolve to fight for the rights of Pakhtoons and raising their voice at every national and international fora.
