Health Minister Dr. Hisham Inam Ullah Khan said that the its in PTI government mandate to provide basic rights and facilities to public in which health and education are on priority. He expressed his views from the 23rd Annual Cancer Congress Seminar 2019 organized by the Pakistan Society of clinical oncology in local hotel of Peshawar.
Seminar attended by various country celebrities who have unmatched research and practical services regarding the treatment of cancer. Dr. Mohammad Rauf Khatak Director IRNUM Peshawar, Dr. Muhammad Faheem Director NORI Hospital Islamabad, Professor Dr. Noor ul Iman Dean Khyber Medical College and Dr. Sher Mohammad Khan, former director IRNUM Peshawar.
From the seminar, the Health Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa further said that the government has given a grant for cancer treatment of Rs. 500 million to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa patients for the last few years, and besides this, Rs. 297 million issued for purchase of radiotherapy equipments. He added state knows that the cancer medicines are very expensive and far from the reach of a poor and for the said reason we are facilitating to poors and we are providing free medicines in oncology department
of hayatabad Medical complex under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abid Jameel, and soon it will be expanded to other hospitals in the province.
Minister Health KP further added that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has remarkable services for cancer treatment in this country and he appreciated these services and said that it’s time for our Public sectors hospitals to stand with Shukat Khanam Cancer hospital.
At the end of the event, he said that the provincial government will provide soon “Scan PET” machine to IRNUM, which will facilitate timely diagnosis of cancer and it will be the first development of this type in the province. Shields were also distributed in the best performing doctors at the function and the Honorable Shield was presented to the Health Minister by the Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology.
