Rabbani calls upon SAARC countries to reassess the role of SAARC

Islamabad (Online): The Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani said that India has used the platform of the SAARC to further its political agenda against Pakistan.
He called upon other SAARC countries to reassess the role of the SAARC and not to permit anyone country to monopolize the forum. He further emphasized that it would be appropriate for SAARC member states to censor such a move in the future. The Chairman Senate brought to the notice of the Speaker of the People’s Majlis the role of India in sabotaging the SAARC summit which was to be held at Islamabad.
On Sunday the Chairman Senate along with the Senate delegation comprising of Senator Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa and Senator Najm-ul-Hassan Malik had a detailed meeting with the Speaker of People’s Majlis of Maldive.
A message received from Maldives says that Chairman Senate highlighted the gross violation of human rights and international law by India in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He further brought to the notice of the Speaker the use of pellet bullets and the loss of eyesight of innocent children.
He further stated that over 90 days have passed and the valley continued to be under curfew, innocent men, women and children have lost their life. When all they are demanding is the implementation of the UN resolutions granting them the right of self determination.
Mian Raza Rabbani, Chairman Senate of Pakistan arrived in the Maldives last day where he was received at the airport by the Speaker of People’s Majlis of Maldives, Mr. Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed and presented a Guard of Honour. The Chairman Senate stress upon greater Parliamentary contact and exchanges between Pakistan and Maldives. He offered Pakistan’s assistance on the question of devolution of power and increase cooperation between the Secretariats of the two Parliaments. The Chairman Senate invited the Speaker to visit Pakistan at a time of his convenience.
