The Road Checking Campaign of Sindh Excise Department to nab the tax defaulting vehicles continued from December 23, 2019 to January 02, 2020 in different parts of the province except Karachi, while the campaign in Karachi continued till January 10. During the road checking campaign, a total of 29624 vehicles were checked and Rs. 22,106293 were collected in taxes and penalties.
This was stated by the Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla in meeting held here in his office on Monday. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Director General Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers.
Giving the briefing to the meeting, DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said that during the road checking campaign, 978 vehicles were seized across the province for various reasons and the documents of 2166 vehicles were also seized. The meeting was informed that Rs 4704824 from Karachi, 3967677 from Hyderabad, 2395168 from Sukkur, 4635966 from Larkana, 3160696 from Mirpur Khas and 3241962 from Shaheed Benazirabad were received in the form of taxes and fines.
Addressing the meeting, Mukesh Kumar Chawla expressed his satisfaction over the success of the road checking campaign and praised the performance of the officers and staff and said that the public support in the road checking campaign was also wonderful adding that hopefully that the owners of the tax defaulting vehicles would deposit their taxes sooner.
The Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs, instructed the concerned officers to periodically encourage through media to the taxpayer to pay their due taxes on time to avoid any untoward situation.
