Seven sanitation companies decide to set up joint body

The seven sanitation services companies of KP has decided to set up a joint body for planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting to meet current and future needs in the available resources.
The decision was taken at a two-day workshop of association of Water and Sanitation Services Companies organized in collaboration with Swiss Development Corporation at Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan.
Apart from officials of the water and sanitation services companies, managing director Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore Syed Zahid Aziz as chief guest as well as Chairman AWSCs Zafar Shah were also present. The body named as “Community of Practices” would prepare policies for improvement in services as well as benefit from each other experiences.
Aziz has given a presentation on the existing systems of planning, financial and administrative procedure, existing mechanism and master plan for water and sanitation at water and sanitation companies. The participants also discussed performance, achievement of targets, financial and human resources, services delivery, water conservation, increase in revenue, administrative and operational expenses, disposing of solid waste, legal and institutional framework, infrastructure, board of directors and confronted challenges.
They also reviewed the existing procedure of the companies, problems they are facing in planning, monitoring, data collection and reporting, availability and capacity building of manpower institutional performance and water resources and its distribution.
It was decided to devise a uniform system that is compatible with modern needs for PMER at all sanitation companies in KP to properly utilize manpower and financial resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman AWSCs, Syed Zafar Ali Shah suggested to make a proper planning by availing expertise of the experienced sanitation companies like WASA Lahore.
These sanitation companies have to bring improvements in services delivery and run financial and administrative affairs in their available resources, he said.
