Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Pakistani cousin Noor Jahan will contest the upcoming election from Peshawar.
Noor Jahan will be contesting the election on a general seat from constituency PK-77. The seat was previously occupied by the PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai.Although Noor Jehan is associated with the ANP, she will be participating in the polls as an independent candidate.
Noor Jehan belongs to Mohallah Shah Wali Qatal in Peshawar, where she has started her election campaign.

Noor Jahan served as a councillor and has been active in politics since the past few years. She says she enjoy full support from her neighbours who said they would stand with her.
However, former MPAs Shaukat Yousafzai and Zahir Ali Shah are quite popular in the constituency, and it will be a huge challenge for Noor Jehan to gain votes against them. The candidates of other mainstream parties also have considerable vote bank in the said constituency.

Noor Jehan is Shah Rukh’s first cousin. She is the daughter of Ghulam Mohammad alias Gama who was the elder brother of Shah Rukh’s father Meer Taj Mohammad.

Noor Jehan met her cousin and the King of Bollywood in 1997 when she travelled to Mumbai in 1997. Speaking about Khan she said, “I am proud of my cousin and have named my child after him. Shah Rukh has given us pride and recognition.”

As per Noor Jehan and her brother Mansoor, Shah Rukh had visited his ancestral place twice in 1978 and in 1980 when he was quite young.
