The committee headed by Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has decided to include Sikh Scholars in the Board of Governors (BoGs) of Baba Guru Nanak International University (BGNIU) Nankana Sahib.
President over a meeting here on Tuesday, Ch. Sarwar also showed confidence over work done at Kartarpur corridor and appreciated the progress of the project till date. The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Punjab Yousaf Naseem Khokhar, Chairman Evacuee Trust Board Ameer Ahmar, Secretary Religious Affairs Zulfiqar Ghumman and Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab Dr. Shoaib Akbar with other concerned authorities.
During the meeting, the Governor Punjab briefed the attendants about the further steps to be taken in next phase after the completion of Kartarpur corridor. He said that the governmental steps shall be intensified for Baba Guru Nanak University and the Sikh Scholars will also be included in the Board of Governors of Baba Guru Nanak University.
He said that those who want to contribute towards this plan will be most graciously welcome. This university will be capable enough to meet the international standards and will also be autonomous to a large extent. He also added that the individuals whose lands have been acquired for Kartarpur corridor will be duly paid and no mistake will be allowed in this regard.
Ch. Sarwar said that Pakistan is intensifying the developmental works for Kartarpur corridor and by Insha’Allah we shall be successful in implementing these projects within their due time.
He emphasized that if we become successful in promoting religious tourism and national heritage, Pakistan has the capacity to earn the revenue of 4-5 Billion dollars annually as is vivid from the example of Turkey which is earning more than 40 billion dollars annually from tourism.
