Smuggling bid foiled

PESHAWAR: City police Thursday foiled a bid to smuggle 800 years old artifacts and arrested a smuggler near Motorway, within the jurisdiction of Chamkani police. According to details, police started checking of vehicles on a tip off that an attempt would be made to smuggle precious artifacts to Peshawar from environs of the city. After receiving the information police started checking of vehicles on various ingress points of the city.
During searching, police recovered 800 years old artifacts from the hidden cavities of the car bearing registration number SF-501.

Police also arrested the smuggler who was identified as Shahid, resident of Utmanzai Charsadda. The estimated value of the artifacts was about 35 million rupees.

Case has been registered against the arrested and investigations are underway.
