Terror assault in Quetta denounced

PESHAWAR: Journalists, community, politicians and representatives of civil societies have strongly condemned the suicide attack in Quetta Civil Hospital and asked incumbent rulers to ensure protection of journalists and common citizens as it is the basic responsibility of a democratic state.
Members of Khyber Union of Journalists (KHUJ), Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and other walk of life on Wednesday held a protest demonstration against the Quetta attack. Holding banners and placards inscribed with different slogans regarding their protection. The agitators gathered at Sher Shah Suri road outside Peshawar Press Club and shouted slogans against the governments.
Addressing on the occasion Syed Bukhar Shah Bacha, President PPC said that rulers had completely failed to provide protection to journalists as well as other common people. He added that if the rulers were serious in provision of protection to masses the people specially journalists and lawyers would not meet with the miseries of Quetta incident.
Talking to media persons Saif-ul-Islam Saifi, President KhUJ also strongly condemned the Quetta blast and said that it was not the first time and before now the journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) had faced the same situation but the governments instead of providing protection to journalists had turned deaf ears and least bother to take tangible steps in this regard.
Similarly, he said when a government officer becomes victim of such kind of incidents the governments bestow upon various privileges. But unfortunately when a journalists or other media person met or pass with same situation, the rulers first even not ready to announce package for them while in most cases their announcements remain only promises he express grave concerns.
He therefore demanded of the governments to make sure protection to journalists and citizens and bestow on privileges to journalists community. He also stressed the journalists to take careful measures while covering an event because a journalist life is more precious than a news story.
Mian Iftekhar Hussain, Central General Secretary Awami National Party (ANP) and former KP Information Minister said that National Action Plan had failed as more than 70 outlawed factions were present and reorganized but governments had failed and helpless to control that organizations.
The nation has presented 20 points agenda to government then why the rulers are silent and waiting for which thing Main asked and said that it was he time to unite and the rulers should had to combat against such horrific attacks.
He added that the Quetta attack was a pre- planned conspiracy and now it was need of the hour to make changes in the current polices on national, regional and international level. The ANP central leaders said pressure had to be put on all the masses, lawyers, civil societies representatives and journalists through an organized way aiming at to root out the terrorism. Earlier a condolence reference was held at PPC wherein prayers were made for slain of the Quetta tragic incident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
At least 70 persons were killed and more than 40 others were injured in the Quetta suicide attack.
Shahzad Ahmad, a private TV channel cameraman was included in the deceased while another cameraman was severely injured.
