The Galyat Development Authority (GDA) Thursday said that Thandyani and Galyat received up to 6 inches of snowfall during last two days disconnecting several villages from the main areas and roads.
It said that work on clearing the roads were underway and for the purpose two more new pay loaders had reached Galiyat to start their operation. The two-day continuous rain in plains and hilly areas of Hazara division brought a drastic change in temperatures where people had started using warm clothes and winter delicacies.
Meanwhile Babusar top, Naran and Jalkhad roads were closed for all sorts of vehicular traffic due to last two days snowfall. Babusar received 2nd spell of snowfall of the current season which was recorded up to 3.5 feet, Naran 2.5 feet while Lake Saif ul Malook 3 feet snowfall.
Talking to media Assistant Commissioner Balakot Zawar Saleem said that Kaghan to Naran road is closed due to heavy snowfall, heavy machinery is busy in opening the road while only seven tourists vehicles are in the Kaghan valley and those would be evacuated by Friday.
The locals in Naran and Kaghan have started leaving the areas and maximum hotels in Naran, Kaghan and Shogran have already closed operations before snowfall as the electricity supply disrupted to these areas.
