Tharparkar 11 children fall prey to malnutrition

Tharparkar : At least 11 children have died of malnutrition during last three days in Tharparkar. According to details, the children were suffering from malnutrition and other diseases caused by malnutrition. The death toll due to malnutrition has risen to 11 in recent three days.
So far over 600 children have lost their lives due to malnutrition in Tharparkar. According to World Health Organization (WHO), malnutrition is estimated to contribute to more than one third of all child deaths, although it is rarely listed as the direct cause.
Lack of access to highly nutritious foods, especially in the present context of rising food prices, is a common cause of malnutrition, WHO says. Poor feeding practices, such as inadequate breastfeeding, offering the wrong foods, and not ensuring that the child gets enough nutritious food, contribute to malnutrition.
