Tehreek-e-Jawanan Pakistan held a meeting and prayed for those who lost their precious lives in tragic accident on Quetta highway on June 02. Vice president of TJP Syed Afzal Shah presided over the meeting.
Those who attended the meeting were included district president Mehboob Shah, general secretary Muhammad Maaz Sheikh, senior vice president Faisal Shah and joint secretary Muneeb Ahmed Sheikh.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Afzal Shah expressed his deep concerns over the increasing traffic accidents on Zhob-Quetta highway and said that the performance of the provincial government is zero and completely failed to control fatal accidents on highways.
He demanded of the Deputy Inspector General Zhob region and District Police Officer Zhob to deploy traffic police, an indiscriminate action against tinted glasses and reckless bike riding on the highway to prevent accidents and traffic rules violation.
“Traffic accidents are significantly increasing with each passing day and it the responsibility of concerned authorities to control the incidents and make the highway safe for users,” adding the drivers should also drive their vehicles carefully and abide by road safety laws to minimize the risk of road traffic accidents as nothing is more important than human lives.
It is to be mentioned that deadliest road accidents on Zhob-Quetta and Zhob-D.I Khan highways connecting Balochistan with Khyber Pashtoonkhwa have been increased in recent months. National Highway Authority is responsible for regulating traffic on highways through its effective policing and NHA is also responsible for developing mechanisms to ensure compliance with road safety mechanisms. Irresponsible and reckless driving, lack of road furniture and reckless speeding are among the contributing factors on highways. A large number of people lost their lives annually but no steps have been taken so for to make the highway safer and minimize the casualties due to the negligence of concerned authorities.
