Transparent & people benefiting local govt. system introduced: Inayatullah

Peshawar(Online): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Inayatullah has stated that the provincial government has introduced a transparent and people benefiting Local Government system having check and balance procedures. He stated this while presiding over a meeting convened to discuss issues and problems of village councils and Neighborhood Councils in Peshawar on Monday.
Secretary Local Government Syed Jamal Uddin Shah, consultant Local Government Commission Hafeez Ur Rehman, member local government commission Dr. Iqbal Khalil and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the issues regarding check and balance in village councils and Neighborhood Councils, release of funds, rules of business, local government’s act 2013 and responsibilities of Nazimeen and discussed proposals and complaints received during one year of the local bodies.
The Senior Minister Inayatullah said most of village council offices had been established and hence they have started using development funds.
The Senior Minister directed the concerned officials to take action against those Nazimeen using development funds for their personal interest. The meeting decided if any Nazim was disqualified, the council itself would elect the Nazim within the council by simple majority.
The meeting asked secretaries village councils to submit their three months report to the concerned forum. The meeting directed the concerned authorities to take immediate steps for the capacity building of Nazimeen.
