The Capital City Police on Thursday arrested two suspects involved in robbery and posing as employees of intelligence agencies to rob traders in the provincial capital, an official said.
Speaking at a press conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Javed Iqbal said that the police recovered a vehicle bearing a fake number plate, the robbers used for robbing traders, Rs.1.4 million cash, prize bonds and three tolas of gold ornaments from the possession of the arrested accused.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar Division Sahibzada Sajjad and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Suburb Ijaz Abazai were also present.
The official said that the accused would use to intercept traders, introduce themselves as officials of intelligence agencies and rob them of the money and other valuables.
He said the accused Said Kamal belongs to Bara in Khyber tribal district and was an ex-constable, adding he was later sacked from the service in 2014.
The SSP Operations said, that one Tahir had reported to the police that he was on way home when two persons sitting in a vehicle bearing no. KJ-237 intercepted him. He said on the complainant said that the accused introduced themselves as official of the secret agencies and asked him to embark on the vehicle and drove him away.
He said the accused snatched Rs1.660 million, a mobile phone and other valuables from him at gun point and throw him out of the vehicle at Sapan Chowk near Badaber.
Javed Iqbal said similarly a woman, who did not disclose her identity, was present at her house in the limits of the Agha Mirjani Shah Police Station when unidentified broke into the house, stole Rs2,68,000 cash, prize bonds, three tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables.
The SSP Operations said that the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qazi Jamilur Rehman took notice of the two incidents and directed for arresting the robbers and thieves forthwith.
He said a team comprising SP Saddar Sahibzada Sajjad, SP City Shafiullah Gandapur, DSP Badaber Granullah, DSP Suburb Ijaz Khan Abazai and investigation officer was formed to investigate the case.
He said the police interrogated the two cases on scientific lines and traced the accused after thoroughly analyzing the information collected other suspect and those robbed.
He said the accused Said Kamal was also wanted by Paharipura, Chamkani and Hashtnagri police in other cases. The police also recovered over Rs.1.1 million and vehicle from the accused, he said.
The SSP Operations added the SHOs of Agha Mirjani Shah and SHO Inkilab police stations and other cops during an action arrested ‘fake’ secret agency employees Said Kamal, resident of Bara district Khyber present Pakha Ghulam.
He said the police also traced the accused in the house robbery case in the limits of Agha Mirjani Shah police station and arrested two accused.
He identified the accused as Israr and Arsalan belonging to Hameedabad, Kakshal. The accused were said to be close relatives of the complainant woman.
The official added the accused during the interrogation confessed to have committed the crime and recovered Rs.2,68000 cash, Rs40,000 prize bonds and three tola of gold from the possession of the two accused.
The CCPO Qazi Jamilur Rehman announced cash prizes and other commendation certificates for cops participated in the investigation and actions to arrest the accused involved in the crimes.
