NA body recommends release of funds for PRs to improve its condition

ISLAMABAD (INP): National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Railways has recommended the Ministry of Finance to release funds for completion of the ongoing projects of the Railways and improving the condition of the trains functioning on various routines. The MNA, Syed Naveed Qamar chaired the 19th meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways held in Committee Room of Ministry of Railways, “D” Block, Pak-Secretariat on Thursday.
The Committee was briefed on the frequent / common trains accidents at unmanned Railways crossings in the country occurred during the last three years along with measures taken for the safe operations of trains. It was informed that the department had also conducted inquiries and fixed responsibilities on the persons / officials who found responsible.
The Ministry presented an overview of the budgetary proposals relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2016-17 along with its total utilization of budget and year of completion to the Committee. The Committee recommended that the Ministry of Finance may release the funds for the said projects in due time for timely completion of the projects.
Briefing on the Ministry’s budgetary proposals relating to the PSDP for the financial year, 2017-18 deferred for the next meeting on the request of Ministry.
Hafiz Abdul Kareem, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Rana Zahid Hussain Khan, Mr. Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Jatt, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Engr. Hamid-ul-Haq Khalil, Mr. Amjad Ali Khan, and Ms. Naseema Hafeez, MNAs attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for Railways and senior officers of the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform.
