Special Representative of Prime Minister on Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq has said that all five recently opened border crossings on Pak-Afghan border have been made operational for crossing of trucks.
In a Tweet on Saturday, Mohammad Sadiq said the border crossings which have been made operational include Torkham, Ghulam Khan, Kharlachi, Angor Adda and Chaman.
Sadiq said that the government is trying to speed up the clearance of trucks through better organization and efficient handling. He further said that all private parking lots are also being abolished.
Earlier on Tuesday last, Muhammad Sadiq along with Special Assistant to PM on Establishment Arbab Shehzad visited Torkham border to resolve the issue of stuck-up containers at Peshawar and Torkham.
He was briefed on the issue of stuck-up containers in detail and the arrangements at the border for the people to people contact and the ease of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Around 3000 export and transit containers were stuck up in Peshawar whose clearance on priority basis was necessary to improve the bilateral trade relations.
On the occasion, Arbab Shehzad said that improving bilateral trade relations and people to people contact with the brotherly Islamic country Afghanistan is part of the vision of the incumbent government. “We will take all necessary measures to remove hurdles in the smooth operations of trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he added.
