ABBOTTABAD: Computational science has now become a basic need of science and technology while computer is the basic tool in all kinds of experiments and research studies.
DrCesareFranchini while addressing as chief guest at the closing session of a two-day workshop organised by the physic department of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology.
The topic of the workshop was ‘Materials Modeling & Simulations’ and was largely attended by students, professors and researchers from different universities and colleges of the country.
DrFranchini in his research paper and detailed discussion said that different countries were spending huge amounts on preparation of high performance computers and there was a competition going on in the world among researchers and scientists trying to touch the heights of advancements in the field of computer technology, which was now taking lead in the club of all sciences.
Prof Iftikhar Ahmed, vice-chancellor of AUST, while addressing on the occasion said that we had started from “Z” and our target should be to find a place in the race currently on for which the academia had to play major role by providing maximum opportunities to the coming generations. We were committed to put Pakistan among the high technology nations and we had no other way but to perform and excel in the new dimensions, he said.
Earlier, AsifUsman in his briefing about the supercomputer, which was installed at the University of Malakand a year back, said that it had become a source of learning for students studying other sciences.
