Capital City Police have held meetings with religious scholars, traders and others to ensure peace during Muharram days, officials said.
Speaking at a press briefing at the police lines in Peshawar, CCPO M Ali Gandapur and SSP Operation Mansoor Aman said that around 1130 people have been arrested in search and strike operations ahead of Muharram and the data of 200000 people
Officials on Friday said security has been tightened in Peshawar so no untoward incident happens during the ten days.
All the routes of the procession would be monitored through drone cameras to monitor any suspicious people, capital city police officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur and SSP Operations Mansoor Aman said at a press conference on Friday.
Gandapur said that more deployments had been done on the routes of the processions and worship places while plainclothesmen would also be deployed at all those places.
Heavay deployments has been made for security of 116 processions and 62 imambargahs. He said that a supreme command post in Kohati Gate area and a control room in Khan Raziq police station were also made for security.
The area where the peocessions will be carried out will also be observed through around 100 CCTV cameras. “We carried out search and strike operations across Peshawar ahead of Moharram during which 1130 suspects were held,” said Ali Gandapur.
Other security forces would also support the the police in maintaining order.
Mobile service would also be shut on the ninth and tenth days of the month, the officials said.
