ISLAMABAD : Chief Justice (CJ) Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked if there is sympathy with the animals in the society then molestation of children and rape cases will not occur.
He further remarked such crimes occur in a society where in there is no value of life. Whosoever values life will do no harm to the animal. Whosoever cares for animals will take care of children and women too and will not commit heinous crime.
He gave these remarks during the hearing of contempt of court case on death of animals in zoo Friday.
The court inquired what happened with elephants and bears.
Chairman wild life board Dr Anis ur Rehman told the court the elephant was declared fully fit for travelling after inspection. We have no shelter therefore; the elephant will have to be dispatched to Cambodia at every cost.
The CJ IHC remarked there is need to change mindset in the society. The minds of the people can be changed through Hadiths. During this one and half years it has come before the court that there is no sympathy at all in our society. Show the dramas of animals in theatres instead of showing the animals to the children in zoo. The court has given this decision. Create sympathy in the children.
Chairman Wildlife Management Board told the court preparations are being completed to send Kawan elephant to Cambodia. No province took the responsibility to keep the beer. I am ashamed to say that we will have to send bears abroad. The lions were also in dangerous situation in the zoo.
The court remarked no one has told so far Islam has given what rights to the animals. Corruption has zoomed to such peak that animals fodder is being stolen. What will be more than this that no one is ready to change oneself.
The court appointed Dr Amir Khalil an expert who has come from other country as its amicus curiae. Dr Amir Khalil has been summoned on Monday.
CJ IHC remarked any thing else can be made than zoo for the recreation of the children. Had the aspect of human sympathy been alive then there would have been no terrorism in the world. The bears are accustomed to autumn and we handed over them to warm season. One thing I had not written in my decision what things were being brought in the name of elephant.
The court directed Wild Life Board to extricate the animals from the trouble as first priority. We will then see the matter of court later. First of all end the distress of the animals .
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till September 28.
