COIVD-19 Prevention PPEs Distribution to Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) workers by Tearfund in collaboration with NDMA.

ISLAMABAD: Tearfund Pakistan, in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), handed over protective suits, masks, gloves and goggles to Director Sanitation, MCI, in a small but graceful ceremony in Mayor’s Office Hall on Monday. Sheikh Ansar Aziz, Mayor of Islamabad graced the occasion while Representatives of NDMA and Tearfund Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
These supplies will be distributed among contractual/daily wage sanitary workers in order to protect them from the COVID -19 pandemic. On this occasion, sanitary workers’ outstanding services were acknowledged in the battle against COVID-19 especially in view of their daily exposure.
Mayor Islamabad, while speaking at the occasion, appreciated the joint initiative of NDMA and Tearfund to provide PPEs to the sanitary workers of MCI. The country Manager Tearfund acknowledged the support extended by NDMA to humanitarian stakeholders in combating the Novel Corona Virus. Tearfund is an international agency operating in Pakistan for the last 25 years. Tearfund is currently implementing a UKAid Match project on Solid Waste Management in Karachi and Hyderabad.
