Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that it is the collective responsibility of the treasury and opposition benches to respect the decorum of the house. He made the remarks following the opposition parties staged a walk out from the house on Friday. The speaker said that he has always given equal opportunities to the treasury and opposition benches to express their views. He said the way house held threadbare discussion on the budget and other issues is part of the history. He, however, said we all should respect the sanctity of the house.
Expressing his regret on the conduct of opposition parties in the National Assembly, Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said that the proceedings of the house can only be conducted as per the rules and regulations and the directions of the chair.
Later, the house was adjourned to meet again on Monday at 5:00pm without taking up the agenda of the day due to lack of quorum. TLTP
