Railway loss suo motu case: we will summon PM, Chief minister Sindh if need be: CJP

ISLAMABAD, November 10 (online): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmad has expressed annoyance over non implementation of court’s orders in suo motu loss to railway case remarking only departmental letter writing process was pursued but Supreme Court (SC) order was not implemented.

The CJP remarked “ the matter will not stop here. We will summon all. The Prime Minister (PM) and chief minister Sindh will also be summoned if need be.

He observed chief secretary and secretary railway committed contempt of court. Secretary railways and chief secretary Sindh should tell why has not Karachi circular railway project been made functional.

The CJP also issued contempt of court notices to Pakistan Railway and Sindh government besides ordering DG FWO to appear before it in person and explain the position.

The CJP while addressing secretary railway on one occasion remarked “ you have not started the work of removing encroachments despite court’s orders. We have heard once and you have done nothing. As to why you should not be relieved of just now.
The court while ordering DG FWO to appear in person before it to explain the situation and chief secretary Sindh and secretary railway to file the written reply within two week adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over CJP took up the case for hearing.
