ISLAMABAD : Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said Pakistan has influence over Afghan Taliban but we have no control over them.
“Ashraf Ghani was proposed not to hold elections but he did not accept it”, he said this in a statement issued here Friday.
There is no such situation in Afghanistan that people should quit the country. Afghan refugees have not entered into Pakistan so far, he remarked. We want situation in Afghanistan remains stable. We have influence over Afghan Taliban but we have no control over them. We are however making efforts Kabul airport reopens soon, he added.
He held that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had proposed to former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani not to hold elections in Afghanistan. But Ashraf Ghani did not accept this proposal.
The situation in Afghanistan is before all of us, he said adding Pakistan proposals on Afghan issue were not heard earlier. Had Pakistan proposals been heard, the situation would have been different therein.
The main reason for not entering of Afghan refugees into Pakistan is that we have erected fencing on Afghan border, he remarked. Movement continues on Chaman border but people don’t cross Chaman.
Change has come in Afghanistan but no one has been killed and due to this reason law and order situation is in place therein.
It is our endeavor that Afghan refugees don’t come into cities and their arrangement is made on the borders, he remarked.
