PESHAWAR: The prize distribution ceremony of National Idea Bank (NIB) was held at UET Peshawar the other day. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Mr. Atif Khan, Minister for Science, Technology and Information Technology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who gave away shields, certificates and cash prizes to the winners of different competitions held from 22nd to 27th September, 2021 for Peshawar region, hosted by UET Peshawar. The competitions were comprised of different areas including Education, Health, E-Commerce, Construction, Agriculture and Natural Resources. In total 1200 innovative ideas were shortlisted for the NIB competition. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar said, the National Idea Bank is an initiative of the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi, a unique collaboration between academia, government, industry and communities for identifying and showcasing innovative ideas that are capable of solving indigenous problems by using technology in business and governance models. In present era when digitization has become indispensable for socio-economic-development of a country, Pakistan needs to establish a strong platform of professionals and experts to identify innovative ideas for real issues through technology. In order to promote an entrepreneurial culture and self-sustainable businesses for youth, the National Idea Bank organized this competition to encourage collaboration in developing innovation based startups, prototypes and ideas where a large number of innovators and entrepreneurs had submitted their ideas. Mr. Atif khan, Minister for Science, Technology and Information Technology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has increased the budget for Science and Technology sector that will not only create job opportunities and facilitate youth for bringing innovative ideas in the same field.
He said that the Government has been investing in the fields of Information Technology. Recently Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the World Bank along with key local community and academic partners conducted the Digital Youth Summit 2021 which is known for engaging youth from academia and brought together industry and investors at one platform.
The winners included Mr. Faisal Farid grabbed first position (category E-commerce), Mr. Yusuf Javed bin Mansoor secured 2nd position (Construction) Mr. Ibrahim Afridi got 3rd position (Natural Resource), Mr. Mehtab Khalid got 4th Position (Education) Mr. Asif Habib got 5th Position (Agriculture) and Mr. Rahim Ullah grabbed 6th Position (Human Health).
