Seminar held on Pak – Afghan bilateral trade

Yesterday, in a Seminar on Pak – Afghan Trade organized by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Director General, TDAP, briefed the forum on the initiatives taken so far by the Ministry of Commerce for streamlining the Pak – Afghan bilateral trade.

On the occasion, Mr. Husnain Khurshid Ahmad, President, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry highlighted the problems being faced by the business community in trade with the neighboring Afghanistan and Mr. Asif Khan, Pakistan Trade and Investment Counselor from the Embassy of Pakistan at Kabul online spoke on the consultation being developed with the new Afghan regime for trade promotion.

Both sides issues (inside and beyond the border) hampering the Pak-Afghan bilateral trade (exports & imports) such as NLC-scanning clearance, foreign exchange (payment issue) and traffic/police problems were discussed and recommendations developed for resolving the issues on priority basis. The session was attended by the Representatives of the business community of KP, Transporters from Afghanistan, NLC, State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Customs, Afghanistan Consulate, Peshawar and Pakistan Commercial Section, Kabul etc.
