City Traffic Police has issued fine tickets to some 419762 motorists over various traffic violation during the last six months, said a report
According to a six months report released on Monday that the traffic police has accelerated crackdown in the provincial capital against vehicles having tented glasses, fancy number plates, and wrong parking.
Around 419762 persons have been fined and Rs 97.793 million collected and deposited in the national exchequer, report said.
Chief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat said that City Traffic Police Peshawar was using all its capabilities to ensure enforcement of traffic rules.
In this regard, City Traffic Police Peshawar has taken action against 419,762 persons during the last six months for violating traffic rules, which resulted in fines of Rs 90 million.
Explaining the details of the data, the Chief Traffic Officer said that 107322 for non-use of helmets, 54389 for not giving right of way to other vehicles, 35249 for violation of nine parking zones, 36930 for violation of lane discipline.
He said that 23349 persons have been fined for misuse, 12176 for one-way violation, 10298 for driving without driving license, 2472 for driving without permit, 15794 for using tinted windows, 13794 for using mobile phone while traveling, 1313 for unregistered vehicles.
Action has been taken against 4372 persons for violating 1336, 1740 for underage driving, 3642 for overloading, 195 for one-wheeling and violating he shared.
He further said that running the City Traffic Police Peshawar under modern requirements was the top priority in which no stone will be left unturned.
