PESHAWAR
District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Waseem Riaz has said that maintaining law and order situation on polling was the prime responsibility of the police, adding that all arrangements have been made in this connection.
He expressed these while chairing a high level meeting held to discuss security measurements being taken for local body polling day in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Investigation, DSP Headquarters, Special Branch, DSB, BDU and SH of all police stations.
Police officers on the occasion briefly discussed the overall situation and police steps for a peaceful election.
The meeting was briefed that a coordinated strategy has already been ensured to avoid any unrest on the day of the election.
Heavy contingents of police will also be on constant patrol on election day while police lines will be on standby in Khyber to deal with any emergency in a timely manner to control any kind of emergency.
The DPO on the occasion said that the protection of life and property of the people was the primary responsibility of the police.
