Seminar on drug abuse prevention held at UoP

Academia should spread awareness among students about the negative impacts of drug addiction, said Director General (DG) Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Mahmood Aslam Wazir while addressing a seminar at University of Peshawar.
He said that the department has taken all necessary steps to make society free from drug and root out the evils from educational institutes.
Drug prevention and counter narcotics was the prime objective of the department he added.
Mr Wazir said that the provincial government and the Excise Department are taking pragmatic steps to make the society drug free.
Dr Muhammad Idrees, Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, welcomed the Director General Excise and other law enforcement officials in the seminar.
He further said that it is the prime responsibility of academia to create awareness about drug prevention and spreading among students.
DG said that we all have to work together against drugs, adding that parents should also keep a close eye on their children’s activities so as to save our generations from the menace of drugs.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of University of Peshawar assured full cooperation in the campaign against drugs.
The seminar was attended by Hussain Khan Commandant Campus Police, Zahid Iqbal Khan Excise and Taxation Officer (Rehabilitation) Shahzad Kokab SSP Investigation Peshawar, Assistant Director Anti Narcotics Force, Saifullah Khan Registrar, Aimal Khan Director Administration , Police and Narcotics Control Force.
On this occasion, all the participants also conducted an awareness walk on drug eradication, led by D G Excise.
