In order ensure full implementation election code of conduct, District Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Wasim Riaz held a meeting with the nominees of the Tehsil Chairmen.
Addressing the nominees, DPO Waseem Riaz said that they would play their positive role in maintaining law and order during the local body elections and election campaign.
He said that all nominees for Tehsil chairmen should abide by law and election code of conduct, adding that no one would be allowed to display weapons.
During the election campaign and election, all the candidates are committed to maintain law and order and use provocative speeches, display of weapons, aerial firing, use of fireworks, private security guards, men and women in polling stations.
Wasim Riaz said that booths will be set up at a distance of 500 meters, aerial firing, ban on mobile phones in the polling station, workers’ mobs and action will be taken against those who disrupted the polling process under section 144 he added.
DPO said that all candidates should co-operate with the police to ensure implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission. Police will remain neutral at the polling stations.
It is the responsibility of the police to provide a peaceful environment for the people to cast their votes in a democratic manner
