Federal govt announces an increase of up to Rs7 in the prices of different petroleum products

Awami National Party (ANP) has condemned the federal government’s decision to increase prices of the petroleum products on the eve of New Year and demanded of the government to withdraw the increase as soon as possible.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, ANP central president Asfandyar Wali Khan termed the decision of increasing the oil prices an open enmity with the nation and demanded of the government not only to withdraw the increase, but announce a major relief as prices of oil in international market dropped down.
The ANP president issued the statement after the government announced an increase of up to Rs4 in the prices of different petroleum products.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government on Friday announced an increase of key petroleum products by Rs per liter for the next fortnight, with petrol reaching Rs144.82 and diesel Rs141.63 per litre. According to a notification the price of kerosene was increased by Rs3.95 to Rs113.53 per litre and that of light diesel oil by Rs4.15 to Rs111.06.
The ministry also said the higher increase was in terms of enhanced petroleum levy to meet the target agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The ANP chief said that a mother killed three daughters in Jhelum because people could not feed their children today.
State Bank of Pakistan has been made State Bank of IMF, this year will be the last year of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) , he added.
Asfandyar said that the prices of petroleum products were at the highest level at present in Pakistan but the Prime Minister was lying to people by saying the country was the cheapest compared to other countries.
