Punjab police performance is next to Nil: SC

Supreme Court (SC) has remarked Punjab police performance is next to Nil.

Justice Maqbool Baqir expressed these remarks while presiding over 3-member bench of SC during the hearing of the case pertaining to non recovery of a girl Sobia Batool who had gone missing from Shah Pur district Sargodha.

IG Punjab Raja Sardar Ali, RPO Sargodha, DPO Sargodha, Sana Ullah Zahid counsel for the accused Umar, Ghulam Muhammad Khokhar counsel for the petitioner and others appeared before the court.

Justice Maqbool Baqir inquired from the IG Punjab Raja Sardar Ali why this girl Sobia Batool has not been recovered so far. How many cases are there like this case of disappearance?

IG Punjab told the court there are 300 cases of this nature. Sincere efforts are underway in this case. Time be given please and the order will be complied.

Sana Ullah Zahid counsel for the accused Umair told the court when police included the accused Ijaz in the investigation first of all then the father of the girl got him released from the police. The girl was seen with him after she went missing. The mobile phone of the girl was lying at home. Data of mobile was deleted by the father of this girl. Father of the girl be included in the investigation the girl will be recovered .

The court while directing the Punjab police to file report in respect of 300 cases of above nature case has adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
