KP reports new 90 cases of Covid-19, four deaths

The government ordered the district health officers to coordinate their respective district administration on identification of Omicron variant case as the cases of new variant surged to 52 in the province.
According to health departments report the province recorded four mortalities and 90 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours. All four of the deceased belonged to Peshawar, it said.
The province’s fatalities due to the pandemic have reached 5,952 while the number of cases is 181,996. Of the infected persons 175357 have recovered.
The tally of active cases was 687, including 332 in the provincial capital, the report said.
The health department through a notification has asked all district health officers to immediately inform deputy commissions to ensure strict enforcement of SOPs in an area where new case of Omicron detected.
The provincial government has also issued directives to district administrations to implement the directives of health department in letter and spirit to curtain the spread of new variant of Omicron in the province.
It is pertinent to mention here that cases of the new virus have also been reported from Nowshera, Dir, Lower and Upper, Hangu, Karrak, Charsadda, Malakand, and Mardan.
The KP government has expedited the pace of vaccination against the coronavirus and alerted its entire health sector to cope with new variant. However, the positivity ratio and new cases and variant are being increased especially in the provincial capital.
The recent spell of heavy rain across the province has also slow down the process of immunization. Currently, health department in 16 districts have administered first dose of jabs to more than 60 percent of the target population.
