Smoking is harmful to health and if the cigarettes are counterfeit, they are more detrimental for health. A factory in Bhimber district of AJK has been sealed by local administration that was manufacturing counterfeit and unapproved cigarettes including ‘Cafe’ cigarettes in Mohra Sadha area.
The “Cafe” cigarette is registered with the Universal Tobacco Company based in Mardan, but its cigarette was being manufactured at the National Tobacco Company in Bhimber.
A case has been registered against Siraj Mohammad, his director Mohammadullah Khan, manager Liaquat Khan and clerk Naveed Nisar after arresting the manager and clerk. Waseem ur Rehman is said to be the real owner of this factory. Bhimber police raided the factory at night while manager Liaqat Khan and clerk Naveed Nisar were busy making fake and unapproved brands.
Deputy Commissioner Arshad Jaral and SSP Zulqarnain Sarfraz were also present on the occasion. The seized items include a large number of ‘Cafe’ cigarettes, ‘Marshall’, ‘Gold Cup’, ‘Target’, ‘Honda’ and other packets and materials. Manager Liaqat pleaded guilty.
