In order to review security arrangements for Local Government Re-polling in some districts of the province, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moazzam Jah Ansari chaired a high level meeting through video link.
All the Regional Police Officers participated in the conference through video link from their respective regions.
RPOs of the different regions briefed IGP-KP regarding the security arrangements taken for a peaceful LG-Re-polling in 13 districts of the province.
On this occasion the IGP-KP Moazzam Jah Ansari was informed that 558 polling stations have been set up for the local body elections in 13 districts on which a total of 19,000 personnel have been deployed.
The IGP was also apprised of the pre-election, post-election and post-election police security arrangements and measures.
IGP Moazzam Jahan Ansari directed the participants of the conference to pay special attention to the welfare and other facilities of the police personnel deployed on Election Duty.
The conference participants were also directed to intensify the process of checkpoints at all entry and exit routes, strict checking at check posts and police patrolling. Participants were further instructed to liaise closely with other law enforcement agencies to keep a close eye on threats to law and order, security threats and tension of candidates and to prevent any untoward incident before it occurs.
Participants were also directed to take all possible steps to ensure safe return of election materials after the polling process at the respective district level.
Later, the IGP visited the polling station at Gulbahar Peshawar Qadirabad and Hussain Kalay Shlobar Bara polling station in Khyber District to review the police security arrangements for the re-run polling stations in the first phase of local body elections.
The IGP personally reviewed the ongoing polling process and police security measures and interacted police staff stationed at the site and inquired about the security arrangements and the challenges and difficulties faced by them.
