SC declares PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz petition against his rival candidate infructuous

Supreme Court (SC) has disposed of the petition by PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz against his rival candidate Tariq Anis, declaring it infructuous.

The petition filed by PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz against his rival candidate Tariq Anis came up for hearing before a three members bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial Monday.

Counsel for Danial Aziz took the plea Tariq Anis met defeat in the general elections 2013 and 2018.

CJP Umar Ata Bandial while addressing counsel for Daniyal Aziz remarked what will you do by proving a defeated person as cheater. What can be more punishment for a person who was rejected by the people in the last two elections?

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked 13 years have passed. Had Tariq Anees been awarded five years imprisonment it would have been completed so far.

Later talking to media men Daniyal Aziz said his rival candidate Tariq Anees was facing rigging charges in 2008 election. 6 persons were killed on election day and then returning officer held the election. Election commission allowed Tariq Anis to take oath. In 2015 the election tribunal dismissed the petition on technical grounds rather than seeing the matter of murder of 6 persons. SC has disposed of the petition due to passage of lot of time.

It may be mentioned that Daniyal Aziz had filed petition against his rival candidate Tariq Anis in SC on the charges of corruption and rigging in the election-2008.
