Two-day Women employability summit starts at SBBWU

A two-day women employability summit started here at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) to provide a platform to female students to interact with reputed employers and industry leaders and get placement and internship opportunities.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister for industries and Commerce Abdul kareem was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
A total 40 different employers have joined hands with the university and have displayed their stalls where on-campus interviews were being taken by employers to recruit students in different fields.
Moreover, career counseling sessions were also being given by the experts to the students. The university collaborated with Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar and the activity was sponsored by United Bank Limited, Bank of Khyber, Superior Science College Peshawar Campus, Abaseen University, Horizon Foundation and Liaison Corporation.
A series of pre-summit training sessions by faculty trainers from department of Management Science, SBBWUP were arranged in all the affiliated colleges including colleges in Jamrud, Kurram Agency and Parachinar were started a month before in which over 1200 students received the training regarding CV writing and interview skills, how to be pitch ideas as an entrepreneur.
Prof Dr Razia Sultana, Vice Chancellor SBBUU while addressing said that empowerment is possible only by acquiring education and by employability. It makes you independent and helps you achieve your dreams.
She said that two way support can help women to get empowered in industrial fields. one government sector and the other is learning skills i.e entrepreneur skills digital skills and soft skills and make yourself the one who stands out.
She also stated that the university doesn’t believe in providing degrees only rather efforts are being made to groom the students and help them visualize what their dreams are and then become a strong support for them by training them and providing them such platforms.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the Vice Chancellor’s vision and stated that she is doing wonders by taking such initiatives for female empowerment and extending them to the students of Affiliated Colleges as well by providing them such a good platform where they can achieve their aims and groom themselves.
He said that it’s encouraging that there are such universities who work for women empowerment in true sense.
He also highlighted various government sectors working for people who want to become entrepreneurs and also mentioned different platforms where they can get guidelines for starting their business.
He also discussed the opening of different gateways where they will get opportunities for import and export and extend their business. At the end he extended support to the VC in any regard especially in Employability of the graduates.
