Capital City Police during the last one month intensified crackdowns against the criminal elements and a total of 22 gangs have been arrested.
According to SSP Operations Peshawar Haroon Rashid during the crackdown police claimed to have arrested 114 accused on the charges of theft, snatching, and robbery.
Police have also recovered 18 vehicles including motorcars and motorcycles and cash worth Rs 1.7 million from the arrested accused.
SSP Operations said that police during the last one month crackdowns in the provincial capital recovered 111 smart-phones, he said. Police under a strategy have conducted more than 211 information based search and strike operations in urban and rural localities of Peshawar.
Haroon Rashid informed that in the same time period also 67 gamblers and 692 proclaimed offenders. As per the report, police during the actions seized 52 kalashnikovs, eight kalakovs, 85 rifles, 768 pistols, and more than 24000 ammunations.
Additionally, police have also admitted 408 drug addicted persons in the rehabilitation centers.
Additionally, police claimed to have traced a dangerous gang involved in robbery in Peshawar and other districts and arrested three suspects. Police said that suspects are residents of Peshawar, said a handout.
During the action, one accused was arrested by Bhanamari police station, one of the accused was arrested a year ago in a robbery of Rs 10 million in Risalpur district, while he was recently released from jail.
Accused Usman last month opened fire on a passenger who was a resident of Karak and shot dead a man. He was also involved in robbery cases.
The accused were also involved in hacking the system of the vehicles in districts including Charsadda, Swabi, Takht Bhai, Nowshera and Peshawar.
Police said that cash, weapons and other items looted from citizens including passports, identity cards, car jammers, and motorcycles used in the incident were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
