Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said “ as long as I am alive I will not give NRO to any corrupt person.
“ Powerful here does not want to come in the ambit of law. Why the people will become inclined to education and hard work where money is minted through theft. I will not give NRO to any corrupt person as long as I am alive”, he said this while addressing a ceremony about women empowerment in Fatima Jinnah University (FJU) Rawalpindi Tuesday.
He went on to say women should have knowledge about inheritance rights. Holy Prophet (PBUH) gave their rights to women 1500 years before. Rights were given to women in Europe. It is regrettable their rights are not given to the women in certain areas in Pakistan.
“I went to an area in Mianwali where there was no concept of giving rights to women. The custom to non granting rights to the women came here from India where the women are subjected to Satti with the death of their husbands”, he added.
He held “we enacted law for the rights of women. Now the society has to implement it. The rights have to be given to women in divorce law. We will soon legislate with reference to it.
“Education issue is too like this. We did not lay emphasis on the education of women. The main cause behind my achievements in my life is my mother. She was educated. My mother was given rights of inheritance. Due to her being educated I am educated”, he remarked.
98 percent money of Ehsaas program is disbursed among the women in the country. We provide more money to parents for the education of girl. Because if mother is educated then the entire family remains successful. Our 60 percent scholar ship is meant for the girls and 40 percent for boys.
He asserted the supremacy of law guarantees a successful society. The powerful persons are plundering national wealth. They want NRO. Here the powerful person does not want to implement law on him. Where money is accumulated through theft, why the people will receive education and do hard work therein. Then the society stands annihilated.
We are waging the biggest Jehad for the rule of law in the country, he observed.
